If Trump, his Cabinet, Congress and Zeldin could eliminate subsidies for wind and solar and get back to a true competitive energy market, a lot of the craziness will go away. It is simply NUTs that a wind or solar generator can force their power onto the Grid and steal power capacity from reliable and Dispatchable generation capacity. Then the lowered capacity factor makes the coal (or nuclear) plants higher cost generation because the O&M is spread over fewer MWH’s. My vote for sanity is get rid of renewables subsidies!
Absolutely correct, Dick! Those wind and solar subsidies are in place forever; eliminating them is the only corrective action. Unfortunately, it will take both houses of Congress to dismantle the horrible Inflation Reduction Act. If anybody can get it done, it is President Trump. Ed
Some Texas legislators are working on bills that attempt to level the playing field with wind and solar subsidies. I'm drafting a Substack about it. Stay tuned!
